We have already had 33 days of school in Napakiak, Alaska. The year is flying by! Here are some pictures from our school days...
Our store is having a contest to create a new logo. We have been busy trying to make the best logo! The winner gets a $200 gift certificate to the store.
Thank you to our "adopted" Aunt Jill from Pennsylvania. She sent us books and games! My students especially love the "how to" drawing books. Also, thanks to my Mom who sent me some goodies and prizes for my students! They love the slinkys.
My classroom is coming along nicely! I still have a few things to do, but I like it.
Normally, I love Target. I buy everything the dollar spot has to offer and I can't get enough. I bought this map there over the summer without inspecting it carefully. If you are a teacher and have this in your classroom...take it down immediately! Penguins do NOT live in Alaska and igloos are a poor representation of the state. You don't know how many people ask me, "Do you live in an igloo?" No, of course not! There are also other mistakes with the map. Niagara Falls is spelled wrong. Also, the only icon they could think of for Michigan was a football? Crazy! I've learned my lesson. Since I moved to AK, I always notice if maps include Alaska and Hawaii. I never paid attention to it before, but they are a part of the United States and should be on every map!
A large barge traveled past Napakiak on Sunday and I happened to be in the right place at the right time to get a picture.
Sunset. The sun is setting earlier and earlier each day. It's so sad!
All of the teachers went into Bethel a few weeks ago for training. We took this very large plane called a Caravan. It's the biggest plane I've seen in Napakiak!
The gas prices just decreased, in case you're wondering...
Last week I had a horrible bloody nose that wouldn't stop so I had to take a trip to the clinic. It was a little scary, but it finally stopped after two hours. I got to take the rest of the school day off to relax at home and I haven't had a nose bleed since!
My two friends, Kayla and Casey, are coming to Alaska!! I'm so excited for them to see this great state and I hope they love it as much as I do! I'm going to Anchorage next weekend for an appointment so I will miss a few days of school. I'm excited to go shopping and out to eat!
Thanks for reading. :)
