I'm currently at the Anchorage airport awaiting my flight to Portland. In Portland I will be reunited with my dad and then we will jet off to Honolulu! I'm so excited. I have a two hour layover right now so I thought it would be a good time to catch up on the blog.
Things have been so busy in Napakiak. I only had one free weekend since I returned from Christmas break. However, it does make the time go fast. After spring break there are only 10 more weeks of school left. I can't believe the school year is almost over!
We received three special packages in the mail the past few weeks. The first package was from our Pennsylvania friends in 1st grade. Thank you Jamie and Shawn! We tried Girl Scout Cookies for the first time. Surprisingly, everyone liked them! We also tried Tastykakes and Hershey Chocolates. They were a big hit. Thank you! We also got cute Valentines from them. Some of them said "I like your shirt" or "I think you're pretty". I loved reading them! Here are some pictures of them enjoying the treats and reading their valentines.
A neat book to help us understand Pennsylvania! Thank you to Shawn's brother.
Trying out those Tastykakes.
The Girl Scout Cookies!
Another package we got was from John and Sherry Haas. They were so thoughtful and sent a small package of peeps for each student! My students were so excited that they each got their own mini box. Some of them took one Peep home so their family could try it. John and Sherry also sent Hershey Kisses and M&Ms. Those are nice for bribing my students to walk quietly in the hallway. :) My students wrote the sweetest thank you cards back to them. Here are some pictures of the fun times trying these new sweets.
A preview of the thank you cards. They almost made me cry!

The last package we got was from Scholastic. They have a big sale every year in February when books are only $1 so I ordered 137! We spent two days looking through all the books and doing some short book reviews. It's always fun to get new reading material.
It was beautiful out one day this week so we went outside to play. The sun was shining and it was wonderful. Some of my students even took off their coats.
The past two weekends we had basketball tournaments at our school. Today our junior high team played in the championship game and we won!! It was a good way to start spring break.
Here are a few other pictures from our busy school days...
Drawing migratory birds to be entered into a contest. We might have one in a calendar next year if we are picked!
We had our Valentine's Day Party with lots of yummy treats from Aunt Jill. Thanks. :)We also celebrated Dr. Seuss's Birthday!
Susie, our classroom aide, is reading The Cat in the Hat!
More pictures from around the village...
Cute brother and sister.
Margaret and I went for a walk one day after school and discovered this old thing.
He's saying, "He won't share with me!"
Below is a picture of the sunrise. The sun is coming up at 8:30 and not setting until after 7:00 now!
Some friendly faces at my classroom window.
I will do another update after my time in Hawaii! Aloha!
