I haven't updated in quite awhile and I've been back in Alaska for almost three weeks. My time home was very short, but I'm glad I was able to get home for the wedding. Wynnie was a beautiful bride and I had a wonderful time at the wedding. Here are some photos...
When I returned to Alaska I had to sleep overnight in the Anchorage airport until my 6am flight. When I got to Bethel I had to attend trainings all day! It was our district wide in-service, where the entire district travels to Bethel for training. I stayed in Bethel until Friday afternoon and then finally returned to Napakiak with the rest of the staff. The jet lag caught up with me so I went to sleep at 6pm and didn't wake up until 11am on Saturday.
When I returned to school I found out that the yoga balls we ordered for our class had finally arrived in the mail! It took all day for a staff member to blow them up, but we are finally using them! My students love them.
Last week I had students run into my classroom in the morning to tell me that they saw some moose by the airport on their way to school. They were SO excited to tell me. I haven't seen any here yet. It's starting to get very cold and windy here. There was even frost on the boardwalk this morning when I left for school.
The past two weekends I was able to travel with the cross country team to two other villages. Two weeks ago we went to Akiachak and this past week we went to Bethel. We got to fly on a brand new airplane to Akiachak. It was luxury for bush Alaska. Here are some pictures from our trips...
I've never seen this on a small bush plane before!
Leather seats!
Our school color is blue. :)
The course in Bethel is all sand. It was tough, especially with 140 kids running.
The youth group had a bake sale a few weekends ago and I bought a cake from these lovely ladies.
Also, some puppies were delivered to the school. I was in love.
I never got around to posting pictures of my classroom last year. It is FINALLY organized and perfect. I love it.
We painted our spelling words today. You could hear a pin drop in a classroom of 22 kids. It was so fun.
I'm missing Penn State football games. I wish I could watch them on television. I just added this nice piece to my classroom wall though. My kids keep asking me where I got it.
I'll be spending a few days in Anchorage next month for an appointment and I'm thinking of going into Anchorage for Thanksgiving for a few days. It's nice to get away. :)
That's all for now! Thanks for reading!!
